Thoughts on Lockdown

In lockdown the biggest challenge for me is being around my kids 24 /7 and not having that solitude of my sacred space studio that I can retreat to every day.  Initially gravitated towards introducing them (7 and 9) to the creative techniques that were within my own scope of interests.  I have been wanting to experiment with painting onto clay tablets.  I managed to buy clay a few days before lockdown.  Luckily a friend down the road has a small kiln and I was able to experiment with different firings and painting techniques. Also working small was a great way to be around the kids and their activities and still paint on the go.

I also collected many plants from my garden and pressed them and then sprayed them gold and visualised making a large scale wall installation of plants taped to the wall that collectively form a shape or an organic form that meanders across the wall.  All these projects meant I could involve the kids and satisfy both my creative outlet as well as teach and inspire them too.
